Turmeric powder
Originating in India, Turmeric has been a part of the Ayurvedic diet and medicine for thousands of years. Turmeric powder produced from the root of the Curcuma longa species of turmeric grows particularly well in northeast Madagascar.
Turmeric is reputed for its broad spectrum of health benefits, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitical, antioxidant, pro-digestive, anti-diabetes, detoxification, cardio-beneficial and the list goes on. Unlike many other natural products, the health benefits of turmeric increase while heating by cooking.In Madagascar, turmeric is widely used the local cuisine where it's added to rice dishes. The powder itself is commonly referred to simply as curry.
